Coming up with ideas for family Christmas presents can be a bit of a problem, but this year I was inspired to make some bookstands based on an 18th century design.
These stands are each made of a single piece of wood, and no glue is used in their construction. If you Google ‘Roubo Bookstand’ you will find oodles of information on the general method of construction.
I decided to keep the bandsawn texture on the inner faces as a contrast with the more refined outer faces. Timbers used are sycamore, maple, cherry and walnut, and the finish is blonde shellac.
