This lectern and pair of prie-dieux were made for St Andrew’s Church, Histon. The legs are of laminated construction (16 plies of 1.5mm constructional oak veneer), the rest in solid oak.
The legs are tenoned through the feet and have drawbored dowels. All other joinery (top to legs, shelves to legs, kneeling panel to feet) is also made by dowel. The finish is oil, cut back and waxed.
Because of the construction methods used the only metal in the pieces is in my maker’s plates.
I had to use 1kg of Cascamite (a resin glue which comes in powder form, and is made up with water) to laminate each leg.
