Here is a console table in walnut and maple.The top is a sandwich of 6mm thick book-matched shop-made veneers either side of 12mm MR MDF, most of which is set within the apron and legs to give a minimal show edge. The underside of the front edge of the top is bevelled to give support to the overhanging edge, so the drawer front is bevelled to match. The drawer is guided by a central runner, and does not touch the case at the sides. All external faces are flush. The finish is boiled linseed oil plus four coats of hardwax oil on the walnut, 30% sheen acrylic lacquer on the maple.
